Toward the end of the January transfer window, Leeds United were being linked with a move for Wolves attacker Ivan Cavaleiro. The Sun reported that the Whites wanted to bring in the Portuguese forward on loan until the end of the season.

It came with the 25-year-old struggling for regular football in the Premier League and Leeds looking for some final recruits to help them in their push for promotion.

However, as reported by The Telegraph, Wolves swiftly knocked back the approach. They suggested that he was still an important member of their squad and that his exit would not be happening.

Leeds ended up bringing in no first-team outfield recruits in the January window.

Cavaleiro would have been a brilliant new option in attack for Leeds. Last night, he showed just why.

With Wolves drawing 2-2 with Shrewsbury Town in a FA Cup replay Cavaleiro proved to be the Molineux hero.

He wrestled away from his marker, jinked onto his left foot and slammed home the winning goal.

It was the sort of clinical final-third moment that Leeds have been lacking in recent weeks. It certainly proved that the Portuguese forward would have been a solid recruit.
