'It's ridiculous': BBC pundit annoyed after what he's been hearing about West Ham man recently
West Ham currently sit fifteenth in the table after a poor start to the new campaign. The Hammers have lost four of their last five and sit just one point above the relegation zone after 15 games.
Moyes’ underwhelming start to the season comes after he was backed by the board over the summer, as the club brought in the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Gianluca Scamacca and and Thilo Kehrer.
But Murray has questioned whether these are signings that Moyes actually wanted.
Murray on Moyes
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live last night, Murray feels Moyes deserves time to turn West Ham’s form around due to his success over the past two seasons.
He said: “The £150 million he has said, has he spent that? Managers’ heads roll for signings that they didn’t make. There are sporting directors at clubs and managers are given players to coach.
“It has been so positive for West Ham ever since he went back there at the first sign of disappointment he just can’t be shown the exit door.
“It’s ridiculous. When I look at the top clubs, the continuity of City and Liverpool – that is why they are where they are.”
Moyes has done a brilliant job in east London and has guided the club into Europe over the past two seasons.
The Scotsman has probably got enough credit in the bank to be given time, but he’ll know that results will have to improve dramatically after the World Cup.
West Ham invested heavily in the squad over the summer and they are underachieving at this moment in time.
Moyes will be well aware of this and the international break couldn’t have come at a better time for him.
The former Everton man will be hoping to regroup over the next month before his side face a trip across London to Craven Cottage on Boxing Day.
