Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has told Copa 90 that not having a Christian Eriksen in the Spurs squad effectively makes his job harder and “not the same”.
For a long time, Eriksen was deemed one of Tottenham’s best players, having clocked up 305 appearances for Spurs, scoring 69 goals and registering 89 assists.
However, the Denmark international failed to have the same impact for Tottenham in 2019-20, with just three assists and three goals, amid constant speculation over his future.
In the end, Eriksen made the move to Inter Milan in January for a reported £16.9million move (Sky Sports), penning a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Serie A side.

Likewise, Alli has also struggled for his best form this season, with the Tottenham midfielder often played out of position, even up front in wake of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min’s injuries.
The England international has claimed that, without a player like Eriksen picking out his runs, life’s more difficult for him.
“I’ve played in all three of the positions throughout my career, I have played six, eight and as a 10. I love playing as a 10, as I love scoring and assisting,” Alli said.
“But it’s not the same, with the runs I make if you don’t have a player like an Eriksen and the other players we have at Tottenham, that can see that run and can play the pass and it’s difficult.”
TBR View:
Although Eriksen very much looked a shadow of his former self towards the end of his Spurs tenure, there was no doubting his quality for most of his time in North London
Likewise, Alli’s form has not been the best this season, save for a short spell at the start of Jose Mourinho’s reign, which shows just how much impact the Dane had on his teammates too.
This summer, some thought has to be given within the Spurs boardroom as to who could realistically replace Eriksen next season.
