'It's me': £40m man names himself the Premier League's best after Liverpool and Arsenal links
Yves Bissouma has been speaking to ex-Brighton teammate Glenn Murray on the BBC, and he’s made quite the claim about himself.
What’s the story?
Well, after being linked with moves to Liverpool and Arsenal over the summer, the 25-year-old has named himself as the best midfielder in the Premier League.
Bissouma told Murray: “I don’t want to be arrogant, but it’s me because in my head I am working to be the best. So I cannot say another name, I know in the Premier League there are so many good midfielders, but for me, it’s me.”
Talk about having confidence in your own ability!
It was Sussex Live who claimed that Arsenal were chasing Bissouma over the summer, and were willing to include Eddie Nketiah in the deal.
Bissouma is rated at £40m, and it seems that price tag – or something else – prevented the Reds or the Gunners from making a move.
Should Liverpool and Arsenal go back in for Yves Bissouma?
In our view, we’re not quite sure why Mikel Arteta, or Jürgen Klopp, didn’t made a real push for Brighton’s No.8 – he’s a fantastic player.
After Gini Wijnaldum left, Klopp had a vacancy in midfield, and Bissouma would’ve been ideal for the German’s gegenpressing system.
He is a fine ball carrier, but also possesses a fantastic engine to get around the pitch.
In Arsenal’s case, well, let’s just say Arteta’s midfield depth is thin.
The Spaniard only has Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Thomas Partey to choose from in the centre-midfield department.
With the above in mind, yes – Liverpool and Arsenal should definitely keep Bissouma on their radar.
The danger now is that he thrives yet again this season, and that £40m price tag gets higher.
