'It's just been confirmed to us': Sky Sports reporter shares transfer line he's just heard about Newcastle United

Newcastle United have made a second bid for Watford forward Joao Pedro, according to Sky Sports.

Eddie Howe’s side have been tracking the young Brazilian for several weeks, but their first bid was £10 million away from Watford’s valuation.

Newcastle’s latest bid is believed to be in the region of £30m including add-ons, and is currently being considered by Watford.

The report from Sky Sports said:  “Last week they (Newcastle) had a bid for Joao Pedro at Watford rejected, and we’ve got some breaking news with regards to that bid at the moment.

“It’s just been confirmed to us that Newcastle have made a second bid for Watford forward Joao Pedro.

“The bid is believed to be in the region of £30m which includes add-ons.

“Watford are currently considering the proposal, talks are ongoing over the structure of the deal and payments, and how achievable the add-ons are.

“Newcastle are hopeful that they can get this deal completed.

“Significant investment once again from the owners, a player that Eddie Howe has clearly identified as someone that can improve that Newcastle squad.

“He ticks the boxes because that’s an area of the pitch they’re looking to strengthen, and they believe Joao Pedro is that man.”

Newcastle make second Joao Pedro bid

It’s an exciting development for Newcastle as they look to improve their attacking options.

Eddie Howe has already invested in his defence this summer, bringing in goalkeeper Nick Pope, and defenders Matt Targett and Sven Botman.

The Magpies submitting a second bid for the young forward shows just how desperately Eddie Howe wants him.

The 20-year-old forward has already opened his account in the Championship this season, scoring against Sheffield United on the opening day.

Capable of playing across the front line, Joao Pedro would slot into Newcastle’s attack well.

Only Emmanuel Dennis – now of Nottingham Forest – has completed more successful dribbles per game than Joao Pedro.

It’s previous been reported that Watford are guaranteed to accept a bid of £30m, and so the nature of the add-ons discussed could decide if Joao Pedro becomes a Newcastle player or not.
