'It's interesting': Gary Neville shares what he overheard Arsenal fans saying in the 36th minute yesterday
Gary Neville has said live on Sky Sports that he could hear Arsenal’s supporters becoming agitated with Chelsea’s performance even in the first half yesterday.
Overhearing complaints
Arsenal were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea in the end, but the scoreline could have been harsher on them.
Arsenal looked outclassed in the contest, and Chelsea didn’t take look to establish their dominance.
Why Are There No Openly Gay Male Footballers?
Goals from Romelu Lukaku and Reece James in the first-half put Chelsea into a commanding position and Neville admits that the mood among Arsenal fans quickly turned pretty bleak.
He said, in the 36th minute: “It’s interesting when crowds come back into the stadium and you can just hear the Arsenal fans talking to each other, or muttering to each other saying ‘these are good aren’t they?’, ‘what are we going to do here?’.”
A harsh lesson
For Arsenal it was a harrowing defeat, as they never looked a threat in the contest.
The game really highlighted just how far behind Chelsea they have fallen now.
The manner of the defeat also ramps up the pressure on Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta even further.
Arsenal have now lost their first two games of the season, and with Manchester City on the horizon, things could get worse before they get better.
