‘It’s incredible’… Pundit says unique 27-year-old Arteta wants is absolutely perfect for Arsenal

Janusz Michallik has described Ivan Toney as the biggest prize on the market for Premier League clubs this summer, and believes that he is perfectly suited to Arsenal.

Any concerns over whether Ivan Toney would be able to rediscover the form he showed before his ban have already been put to bed. Toney has already scored twice in his first three games following his return.

Thomas Frank is not convinced that Toney will stay at the Gtech Community Stadium beyond the end of the season. And you would imagine that a host of teams will be ready to make a move for the striker in the summer.

Ivan Toney is absolutely perfect for Arsenal

Arsenal are one of the teams interested in Toney. Obviously, the Gunners do appear to lack a ruthless goalscorer up front. And Toney is already halfway to matching the tally of Gabriel Jesus in the league this season.

Plenty of Gunners fans would surely love to see Toney come in in the summer. And speaking on ESPN, Janusz Michallik believes that it is a no-brainer for Mikel Arteta and Edu to do all they can to bring the England international in given how unique he is right now.

“All I can tell you is he is the biggest prize right now in the Premier League. I can’t think of any other player because of what he gives you. For that particular league, not only does he know it, he’s proven he can score. He’s a great number nine in terms of hold-up, he can assist, he can score. He’s great on set-pieces. His pace, his size, his stamina, just about everything. You tell me a player like that,” he said.

“You can name your price, because I can’t imagine any club in the Premier League that would say no to that. I really can’t, aside from Liverpool, they’re probably not going to be looking because they have three, four, five players. But Chelsea certainly, Manchester United should be, Arsenal obviously.

“Look how smoothly he came on after such a long break. It’s incredible. It’s almost as if he didn’t miss a beat right now. The player who can play through the middle, he can come off the left, he can come off the right. So the biggest prize there is, and the biggest fight.

“He takes Arsenal to the next level. He takes Manchester United to the next level. I don’t care if Hojlund’s there or not. We’ve talked about Real Madrid, how many players you need and all that. So all those three teams: Chelsea for sure. But yeah, I think if I’m Ivan Toney and I look at the projects where they currently are, and it’s my big move, maybe the only big move a player like Ivan Toney’s going to make, no doubt, in his mind and on Arsenal’s mind, this is a perfect match.”

Gunners need something special to replace Gabriel Jesus

One of the big plus points about Gabriel Jesus is how much he does for the team. He is an outstanding forward in so many ways. And it is probably only his quality in front of goal that holds him back.

But Michallik is clearly confident that Toney can tick many of the same boxes. And that must be music to Arteta’s ears. Ultimately, if they can find a lethal goalscorer who does everything Jesus does, that could be the absolute game-changer for the Gunners.

It will be very interesting to see how much Arsenal push to bring Toney to the Emirates in the summer.
