'It's horrible': Ian Wright says he hates what keeps happening to 21-year-old Arsenal player during matches

Ian Wright has told Wrighty’s House that he hates what keeps happening to Arsenal star Bukayo Saka during matches.

Saka has been in blistering form once again for the Gunners this season and it’s led to him being on the receiving end of some robust challenges.

The 21-year-old was forced off against Nottingham Forest 10 days ago after taking a heavy blow to the ankle.

He looked to be in real discomfort and was replaced by Reiss Nelson. Fortunately, Saka returned to the Arsenal team just days later and was only taken off as a precaution.

But Wright says he’s becoming increasingly concerned about Saka being ‘kicked to bits’.

Wright hates what keeps happening to Saka

Wright claims that he has only seen a player booked for a late challenge on Saka on one occasion this season.

The Arsenal legend says it’s a nerve-wracking experience watching the youngster of late.

He told Wrighty’s House: “We got to talk about Saka. The man is getting kicked to bits man. It’s horrible.

“I’m nervous when he’s playing. You know when you have your best player in the team and when it goes down you’re ‘offt’, I’m like that every time.

It’s clear that Saka has been targeted by opposition defenders this season, which is a consequence of how much of a threat he poses.

The challenge from Forest defender Renan Lodi was a prime example and even forced Saka off the pitch.

There were some initial fears over the youngster’s World Cup hopes after picking up the knock.

It’s natural that defenders will try to be physical with players like Saka to try and stifle his threat.

The Arsenal star will probably need more protection from referees but as a top player, he may have to get used to these kinds of tactics from opposition defences.
