Kieran Tierney has responded to being asked whether he still has a future at Arsenal after spending the season out on loan with Real Sociedad.

Kieran Tierney is currently on loan in Spain. It had appeared at one stage that the Scotland international was destined to become a future Arsenal captain. However, injuries would not give him a break during his time at the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta meanwhile, decided to opt for an inverted full-back on the left. And with that, the Gunners signed Oleksandr Zinchenko. Tierney is much better suited to being a traditional full-back, looking to fly down the line and put crosses in.

Kieran Tierney unsure over Arsenal future

Tierney has had a couple of injuries during his time in San Sebastián. But he has still managed 16 appearances in all competitions, including 11 in La Liga. Real Sociedad sit seventh in the table this season.

There will be a question mark over what the future holds for Tierney in North London. And speaking to the Daily Mail, the £25 million man admitted that he is not sure if he will play for the Gunners again.

“It’s hard to say,’ he said. “I loved my time there and I still have two years on the contract.

“I am very grateful to Arsenal. I don’t know what’s going to happen but I am absolutely loving it here. I feel I have adapted quite well and I hope I can return the faith the club have shown.”

Gunners may keep all options open

What will be interesting to see is whether Ben White’s performance at the weekend ends up having any impact on what the future holds for Tierney.

With Zinchenko missing for the game against West Ham, Arteta opted for Jakub Kiwior on the left. And that meant that White played as the inverted full-back on the opposite flank. And he was superb in the role.

Tierney is someone who can be extremely disciplined defensively. He is capable of playing as a centre-back, so he could be an option in that position on the left.

But obviously, relying on Tierney to stay fit unfortunately seems to be extremely difficult. And Arsenal may feel, with two years left on his contract, it would be make more sense to listen to offers this season.
