Rio Ferdinand has admitted he’s been so impressed with Liverpool target Jude Bellingham.

Ferdinand was speaking on BT Sport after Borussia Dortmund’s 0-0 draw with Manchester City last night.

City should have won the match, but Riyad Mahrez squandered their best chance from the penalty spot.

Ferdinand pinpointed the contribution of Bellingham last night, and was impressed with the 19-year-old’s performance.

Bellingham handed back the captain’s armband to Mats Hummels, but still put in a commanding performance in midfield.

The midfielder has been identified as a key transfer target for Liverpool going forward.

Miguel Delaney believes Liverpool are pushing to sign Bellingham, who could be the most sought after player in the world.

Liverpool’s midfield has been an area of concern for Jurgen Klopp this season.

Fabinho hasn’t been at the level many normally expect of the Brazilian, while injuries have once again hampered Thiago.

Bellingham arriving at Anfield would certainly improve Liverpool’s quality in the middle of the park.

The Reds might have to contend with Manchester City for his signature in the summer.

Ferdinand impressed with Bellingham

Speaking on BT Sport, via their YouTube channel, Ferdinand was impressed with the number of positions Bellingham could thrive in.

“He’s everywhere on the pitch, and when he receives the ball, he can even receive the ball as a number nine and kept the ball,” said Ferdinand.

“He ghosts around the pitch, and never looks out of place anywhere he receives the ball.

“You talk to some of the coaches who coached him as a young player, in the youth systems with England, he could play the holding midfield role as well as he could play the number 10 role, or as an eight.

“It’s crazy in terms of game understanding.”

England fans will be very excited about Bellingham’s recent brilliant form ahead of the World Cup.

Judging by the last set of internationals, Bellingham should line up in midfield alongside West Ham’s Declan Rice.

If Bellingham impresses in Qatar, it’s only likely to push up Dortmund’s asking price for the 19-year-old.

This will worry Liverpool, who may not be able to compete with the money the likes of Man City or Real Madrid could offer.

Speculation is only going to increase around Bellingham’s future as the transfer window approaches.
