Aston Villa have been praised by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher for how well they have been doing this season.
The Premier League icon, speaking on Sky Sports News on transfer deadline day, also admits he’d love to see the Villans triumph in the FA Cup this term.
Villa have enjoyed a superb season so far, sitting in the top five of the Premier League table. They will certainly fancy their chances of finishing in the top four in May.
Indeed, Unai Emery’s charges were level on points with table-topping Liverpool following their final march of 2023, a 3-2 win over Burnley.

Villa are also in the fourth round of the FA Cup and will take on Chelsea in a replay next week after the first match finished goalless.
And that’s not all. The Villans are also in the knockout stages of the Europa Conference League. Needless to say, there’s real scope for them to have a wonderful season.
Aston Villa form is ‘brilliant for the Premier League’
Villa have been on an upward trajectory since Emery took the reins, combining their great displays and results on the pitch with superb recruitment in the transfer market.
And Carragher is loving it, telling Sky Sports News: “I don’t particularly like seeing the same teams win the same trophies year after year.
“I think it’s great that West Ham winning a European trophy last season, I think it’s brilliant for the Premier League how well Aston Villa have done this year.
“Villa have a replay with Chelsea in the FA Cup, I think it would be great for the game if they went on and won the FA Cup this season. I like to see teams challenge the top teams.”
Villa are football heritage through and through. Founded in 1874, they are one of the oldest clubs in the world, and have won a multitude of trophies including seven league titles and the 1982 European Cup.
With that in mind, it’s great to see them doing well again and getting into position to potentially win more major silverware in the near future, or at least in the coming seasons.
