Italian side desperate to offload Tottenham-linked striker for just £22.5m

Tottenham Hotspur could finally bring in a decent striker to act as cover for Harry Kane this summer with AC Milan desperate to get rid of one of their strikers on the cheap – in the form of Patrick Cutrone.

Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb claimed earlier this year that Spurs were interested in 21-year-old Cutrone, who lost his place in the Milan side last season to Polish hotshot Krzysztof Piatek.

One-time Italy international Cutrone only managed to find the back of the net nine times in his 43 league and cup appearances, though 27 of those appearances were from the substitutes bench.

Now, CalcioMercato claim Milan want rid of Cutrone in order to bring in some much-needed cash. Despite coming in for criticism, it must be remembered that the striker is still only 21, and has 27 goals in 90 Milan appearances.

That is a decent return for a striker that has played almost half of those matches from the bench. The report claims Milan want £22.5million for Cutrone, a bargain for a striker in the early years of his career.

If Spurs look to reignite their interest in Cutrone, though, they will face competition from other Italian sides. Fiorentina, Sassuolo and Torino are all said to be interested in Milan’s number 63.

But with Cutrone available on the cheap, Spurs may look to bring the Italian to north London after Fernando Llorente was released and Vincent Janssen looks unlikely to break back into the team.

For just £22.5million, Spurs would certainly be securing a bargain. If they do come back in for Cutrone, the striker has to weigh up whether he is happy to act as Kane’s back-up – or remain in Italy with one of the three sides.
