Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic is to leave the club for free at the end of the season – which may put Everton on red alert.
That’s according to Naples-based journalist Ciro Venerato, who spoke about the player’s situation on Radio Kiss Kiss yesterday.
Apparently, the 29-year-old will not pen an extension with the Serie A side, and will bring his stint to an end after what will be four years with the club.

The development may well pique the interest of Everton, who were reportedly in the hunt for the player back in August (Calciomercato).
Venerato said (quoted by Napoli Magazine): “He could most likely go away. There are rumours but Napoli have made it clear that the relationship with the player will not continue if the player’s requests remain the current ones.
“Makismovic will be released in June. To date, the player is still a fan of Ancelotti and could be a great opportunity for Everton, who could take him on a free transfer.”
25-cap Serbia international Maksimovic has made just five appearances in 2020/21 so far, four of those coming in the Europa League.
TBR’s View – A situation to monitor for Ancelotti
This is a situation that Everton undoubtedly have to keep an eye on.

At the moment, Yerry Mina is struggling again for the Toffees, and one wonders about his long-term prospects at Goodison Park.
At the moment, Everton lack an older, more experienced centre-half and at the age of 29, Maksimovic could be a good addition to the squad, especially for no transfer fee.
