Italian agent responds to Federico Chiesa transfer question as Liverpool make their move

Liverpool have now completed the signing of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili but may have an instant impact addition to Arne Slot’s squad in the pipeline.

The Reds have started the new Premier League season about as well as they could have hoped.

Arne Slot has picked up two 2-0 wins and will be delighted with the four goals as well as two clean sheets.

Slot faces a bigger test this weekend as Liverpool travel to face Manchester United, but he can be delighted with the start.

Liverpool now have a first summer signing on board too have confirmed the arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.

The ‘outstanding’ Georgian stopper signs now – with Alisson’s seal of approval – but will only join up next summer.

Italian agent on Liverpool target Federico Chiesa

Mamardashvili should be a quality goalkeeper for Liverpool for years to come but this isn’t the instant impact signing fans want to see.

Liverpool may yet have something else in mind for before the transfer window though with Federico Chiesa wanted.

Fabrizio Romano claims that a potential move for Liverpool to sign Juventus winger Chiesa is ‘absolutely on’.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein adds that Liverpool are now ‘working to complete’ the signing of Chiesa for around €15million (£12.7million).

This is a bargain price due to Chiesa’s contract situation as he is out of contract at Juventus, given that he can leave for nothing next summer.

Juventus have banished Chiesa from the first team as they plan to sell him this summer and Liverpool now appear to be his most likely destination.

Italian agent Claudio Pasqualin has now told Tuttomercatoweb that he believes Chiesa is Premier League bound.

Barcelona have been linked with Chiesa too but Pasqualin doesn’t believe the Catalan giants will have the money in their budget to strike a deal.

“I see him in the Premier League. Barcelona’s financial difficulties are currently insurmountable, even if the player is of interest I think it will be difficult to complete the deal,” said Pasqualin.

Chiesa needs to get back on track

If you watched Euro 2020, you would be forgiven for thinking that Chiesa was the finest winger on the planet.

Then just 23, Chiesa ran riot as Italy won the European Championship at England’s expense.

Chiesa suffered heartbreak just months later though as he suffered a serious knee injury in January 2022, ruling him out for more than six months.

Coming back from a torn ACL is a battle for anybody and Chiesa has found that he hasn’t really hit those Euro 2020 heights again since.

Nine goals and three assists in 33 Serie A games last season wasn’t a terrible record but Liverpool are investing in Chiesa hoping that he can get back to his best soon.

Now 26, the talent is certainly there and perhaps Chiesa just needs a change of scenery to really kick on again whilst possibly emerging as the heir to Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.
