“It will be different’… Fabrizio Romano says ‘world class’ Arsenal target’s asking price will drop this summer

Ivan Toney to Arsenal has been the big transfer rumour in the Premier League over the past few months.

The Brentford striker has been flirting with the Gunners for quite some time now, and while a deal didn’t get done in the January transfer window, there’s already chat about a potential switch in the summer.

Toney has been valued at around £100m in recent times, but according to Fabrizio Romano, writing on The Daily Briefing, the ‘world class’ striker’s asking price will drop this summer.

Toney’s price will drop

Romano shared what he knows about the attacker.

“Another story that could be relevant for Chelsea, who want to sign a striker this summer, and also for Arsenal, is that Thomas Frank has spoken publicly about Ivan Toney being likely to leave at the end of this season. He’ll have just a year left on his contract, so his price tag will likely be lower than the £100m it would have cost to sign him in January,” Romano said.

“I think this situation makes sense and I don’t think clubs needed Frank to say that, it’s quite obvious and also one of the reasons why no one wanted to pay that amount of money in January. In the summer it will be different, for sure.”

Has to move

Toney is surely going to move this summer.

The striker is ready to play for one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, and with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea circling, surely it’s only a matter of time before he gets this move.

If his asking price drops, Toney will be the subject of a number of offers this summer, and as he heads into the final year of his contract, he may well be available for a bit of a bargain fee.

This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on heading into the summer window.
