Declan Rice has admitted that it was ‘really weird’ to play against West Ham United teammate Tomas Soucek at Euro 2020 on the Lions Den.
Rice and Soucek came up against each other last week, as the West Ham teammates became foes when England met the Czech Republic.
It was Rice who was on the winning side on that occasion, as the Three Lions snuck a 1-0 win to secure their qualification to the knockout stages.
But Rice has now admitted that he found it strange playing against Soucek, as they didn’t even speak before the game.
“It was really odd,” he said. “Honestly it was really weird because we didn’t speak before the game, during the game we didn’t really say anything.
“But after the game I saw Vladi [Coufal] and Tom, but I’ve actually played against Tom before he was my teammate, and knew how good he was.
“But it was really, really weird to play against him and really fun in the end.”
Soucek through, Rice pending
Soucek was actually fairly quiet against England, with his quality not really coming to the fore.

But the West Ham man certainly showed his class yesterday, as the Czech Republic progressed further into the competition.
Soucek and Coufal helped pull off one of the biggest upsets of the tournament so far, as the Czechs knocked out Holland.
Rice will now look to join his West Ham teammates in the quarter finals, with England set to take on Germany on Tuesday.
