‘It was brilliant’: David Seaman says he loves what Ramsdale did to £32m Arsenal player during win over Wolves

David Seaman has told The Chronicles of a Gooner Podcast that he loves what Aaron Ramsdale did to Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko during their win over Wolves.

The Gunners rounded off the first-half of the season in style with a 2-0 win at Molineux. The victory moved them five-points clear at the top of the table after a second-half brace from Martin Odegaard.

But in the final moments of the weekend’s game, Zinchenko took a little too long on the ball and gave away possession to Adama Traore.

The Wolves winger then played the ball to Daniel Podence, who forced Ramsdale into a smart save.

The Arsenal goalkeeper wasn’t impressed with Zinchenko and he certainly let the £32 million man know, with some choice words.

Now, Seaman has commented on the incident and says he loved seeing Ramsdale displaying his leadership qualities on Saturday.

Seaman says he loves what Ramsdale did to Zinchenko

He said: “It’s so good that he’s doing that [shouting at Zinchenko] because at that stage we were 2-0 up. The Arsenal fans were giving it at every pass and Zinchenko got involved in it and took one touch too many and lost the ball.

“What I like is that Aaron showed that much experience and he’s stating the facts we are 2-0 up but we can’t take the mickey yet. It was brilliant.

“The fact he’s only 24 is even better. It feels like he’s got that responsibility and that confidence to have a go at someone that’s won the Premier League multiple times.

“He’s new to the club this season and he’s a great player but he’s got that confidence to have a go at him and rightly so.

“It’s like no, let’s keep it concentrated, let’s keep it tight. And that’s exactly what he was saying in a few different words.”

The Arsenal legend also praised Ramsdale for his displays since becoming Arteta’s first-choice goalkeeper.

He feels the 23-year-old will be pushing Jordan Pickford for England’s number one spot soon.

”Now he’s moved up a notch, he’s joined Arsenal and he’s playing under the added pressure for Arsenal, which is great,” he said.

“By the way, I love hearing the Arsenal fans singing ‘England’s number one’ again  because that’s been a while.

“He’s doing really well, he’s going to start pushing Pickford because I know he’s going to the World Cup, he’s only got three caps, so that’s a little bit of inexperience.

“But ability wise, he’s got everything he needs to really go all the way to the top.”

Ramsdale has been excellent ever since he took Bernd Leno’s place in the Arsenal side. Eyebrows were raised when the Gunners brought him in from Sheffield United last year.

But the Englishman has added another dimension to the Arsenal side with his ability on the ball and superb distribution.
