‘It was April fools yesterday!’: Fans react to reports Jack Grealish could miss out on England place

Aston Villa fans, and supporters of England in general, have been reacting on social media today after reports suggested that Jack Grealish could miss out for the Three Lions.

The Daily Mail claims that England boss Gareth Southgate may instead turn to Jesse Lingard, meaning one of Grealish, Jadon Sancho, or even both, could miss out.

The report is something of a shock, given Grealish has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season. His form has been exceptional, helping Villa to within touching distance of Europe.

Further, he’d also been a regular in Southgate’s squad before picking up a knock prior to this international break. It goes without saying, then, that fans have been left less than impressed with the latest report today.

There were plenty of Villa fans, and supporters of other clubs, discussing the matter on Twitter. It’s safe to say, looking at the responses, that people think leaving Grealish out would be a bit of a travesty.
