Leandro Trossard is proving just how valuable he is at Arsenal.
The Belgian is in incredible form right now, and it’s very exciting to see the former Brighton man playing so brilliantly.
Trossard is finally getting a proper run in the team, and many have questioned why he hasn’t been playing sooner.
Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Shaun Wright-Phillips has been discussing Trossard’s recent run in the side, and he says that he’s surprised that the £27m man hasn’t played more games, claiming that he’s shocked that Kai Havertz has often been picked ahead of him.

Leandro Trossard should start ahead of Kai Havertz
Wright-Phillips spoke about the Belgian.
“I think when you can bring Trossard into the team, it surprises me why he hasn’t started before Kai. Trossard was doing what he’s doing now last year. It makes you think did I have to buy Kai Havertz when you have Trossard here who can do that and then some?” Wright-Phillips said.
Much more effective
We agree with Wright-Phillips here in some capacity.
Of course, Havertz and Trossard are two very different players, and in the heart of the midfield, Havertz is probably better-suited to starting.
However, if you’re looking at the times when Havertz has started in a more attacking role, it has to be said that Trossard would be the better option.
Trossard is a much more effective goalscorer than Havertz in those attacking roles, and he’s a more dynamic player in a lot of ways.
Going forward, if Arsenal have depth problems in the attack, Trossard should be the first port of call – not Havertz.
