‘It might be’: Jurgen Klopp thinks United are going to start ‘genius’ player against Liverpool tonight

Jurgen Klopp has lavished praise on Manchester United ahead of hosting them at Anfield tonight.

It is clear for all to see that United are not in a good place right now and Klopp of course masterminded a 5-0 win at Old Trafford earlier this season.

Klopp used his pre-match press conference to talk up United, running through their lineup and suggesting Nemanja Matic will come into midfield, which also hailing David de Gea.

“We don’t face the team who has problems, we face Man United,” he said.

“Go through the lineup that will play. Goalkeeper, world class. Last line, absolute top. I’m not sure if Fred and McTominay will play, but it might be Pogba and Matic.

“Let Pogba play and he plays over you and behind you. Up front you can choose, Sancho, Elanga, Fernandes, Rashford and a guy who scored now 60th hat-trick.

“Not sure if Cavani will be ready. That’s the team we will face, that’s what we have to prepare for.”

Matic is not the player he once was, which saw him hailed as a ‘genius‘ by Jose Mourinho not long after he brought him to Old Trafford.

But Ralf Rangnick played an aggressive midfield trio against Norwich, shorn of a holding midfielder, and Matic is his only specialist option in that role tonight.

Fred and Scott McTominay are out injured but Matic’s aging legs may find it a struggle against a Liverpool side who blew Manchester City away on Saturday.
