For the second successive game, Jurgen Klopp picked Dejan Lovren ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Liverpool boss had a decision to make when Lovren returned to fitness after an injury lay-off.
His back four of Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil Van Dijk and Andrew Robertson seemed set.
Many Liverpool fans did not see a way back into the starting line-up for Lovren.
But the Croatia international has forced his way back in, playing in the 0-0 draw with Manchester City and the 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town.
The man who was dropped was Alexander-Arnold with Gomez playing at right-back instead.
After missing out on the last two matches, perhaps Alexander-Arnold is not included in Klopp’s preferred line-up.
On social media, Liverpool supporters have been discussing this selection dilemma.
Should Klopp have dropped Alexander-Arnold? The 20-year-old has been impressive when he has played.
Here are a selection of Liverpool fans’ tweets discussing the Lovren and Alexander-Arnold dilemma.
Who can explain why Klopp has started to prefer Lovren over TAA? #LFC

Some people need to understand there’s no agenda against Lovren.. Gomez and VVD are a better partnership and Trent offer so much more as RB than Gomez !! The end #LFC

Exactly. Why not use a player who radiates confidence, can read a game, is rarely shaky and who has age on his side. Why not simply use a better player now and have lovren as backup cb. It makes zero sense

I don't disagree. But my view is that while Lovren has "those" moments in him (ridiculously dive in on right edge of box late yesterday, e.g.) his performances generally have improved a lot. And so has #LFC defensive record as a result.

Why do people cry about the team when it's selected? 'Our defence is this', 'we need more attack', 'why's this player not playing'…..
Lovren slotted in well vs Chelsea, we have some injuries but great depth. Judge after the game…. The ball hasn't been kicked yet! #LFC

I find Trent's sudden omission from the team in recent games a bit strange. As soon as Lovren gets fit he goes straight back in, not how it should be in my book given what we've seen we know what our best back 4 is. Lovren has unnecessarily cost TAA his place. #LFC 🔴⚽️

Really ugly, but a win. Lovren needs to not see the pitch anytime soon, he's a dumpster fire. #LFC
