'It looks like': Some Arsenal fans spot sign Arteta is about to make a 'great' change

Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter after spotting signs that Mikel Arteta could be about to change his formation.

What’s the story?

Well, the Spaniard has been using a 4-2-3-1 system so far this season, and it simply hasn’t been working.

Arsenal have lost all three of their Premier League games this term, conceding nine goals while failing to score themselves.

Now, supporters believe Arteta is going to mix things up for two reasons.

Firstly, the £16m signing of Takehiro Tomiyasu – a player who can play at centre-back or right-back – opens up a lot of avenues for Arteta.

Supporters think his arrival will signal a shift in formation, as will the fact Arteta used a three-at-the-back shape against Brentford in a 4-0 friendly win yesterday.

Interestingly, 3-4-3 is the formation Arsenal used in the FA Cup final against Chelsea last year.

The Gunners came from behind to secure a 2-1 win at Wembley, with Arteta’s wing-back system causing the Blues many problems.

In our view, Arteta should revert back to it, especially now he has Tomiyasu at his disposal.

The 22-year-old should line up at right wing-back on the opposite flank to Tierney.

However, when the Scot bombs forward, Tomiyasu’s nous as a centre-back should see him slot in and cover, with Gabriel Magalhães or Pablo Mari moving over to the left in Tierney’s absence.

The signing of Tomiyasu could prove to be a masterstroke, in that respect.

Let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about a potential formation change for the Gunners…
