It is time for Bielsa to be bold and replace Peacock-Farrell with Blackman

Leeds United missed the opportunity to go back to the top of the Championship last night as they fell to a heavy defeat at West Brom.

In the Championship’s late kick-off, West Brom scored four goals in a 4-1 rout.

And many Leeds fans were left questioning goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell again after his error allowed the Baggies to go 2-0 up.

With the game poised for a dramatic final 20 minutes and Leeds searching for an equaliser, Matty Phillips gave the hosts a two-goal cushion.

The Scotland international’s drive should have been kept out by Peacock-Farrell but his weak wrists allowed the ball to nestle in the corner of the net.

This is not the first time that the Northern Ireland international has made a costly error for Leeds this season.

There is no doubting the 22-year-old’s potential but Leeds need a better goalkeeper at this point in time to maintain their automatic promotion bid.

Now is the perfect time to drop Peacock-Farrrell and replace him with Jamal Blackman, on loan from Chelsea.

The 24-year-old, who stands at 6ft 6in tall, was excellent at Sheffield United last season.

But he has not been given a chance with the Whites yet. With the international break looming, this is Marcelo Bielsa’s chance to drop Peacock-Farrell to the bench, which will be another learning curve for the youngster.

And Blackman will have a point to prove, having been shunned until this point by Bielsa.
