Issace Hayden could still have a role to play for Newcastle

Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has revealed he wants to leave the club this month.

Despite playing his third game in a row against Manchester United on Wednesday, the former Arsenal youngster’s position is still unchanged and he is seeking a move away from St. James’ Park.

He said, as quoted by BT Sport: “It’s unchanged and the club have known that from day one. It wasn’t going to change. My family, my partner and daughter will always come first. Football is football, but family is more important.

“The club have had conversations already. Hopefully a solution can be found. It wasn’t in the summer, but I was professional and got on with the job I have to do.”

Hayden handed in a transfer request in the summer, but was not granted a move away.

It seems a shame Hayden still feels his future lies elsewhere because the door appears to be creaking back open for him.

Hayden’s starting prospects have been boosted

With Ki Sung-yueng on Asia Cup duty, there could be an opportunity for Hayden to stake his claim further in the side.

Mohamed Diame also limped off against Manchester United, meaning Rafa Benitez may have no choice but to deny Hayden’s desired move away once more.

There’s no telling how successful the Magpies will be in terms of bringing fresh players in in January.

And with Jonjo Shelvey having struggled with injury this term, Hayden’s importance to the squad seems to have grown bigger in recent weeks.

Shelvey also might have been sent off against United, suggesting that there is still a discipline problem for the midfielder.
