Defender Issa Diop has insisted he is ignoring all talk about his future and focusing on West Ham United.
The 6ft 4in colossus has been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea in recent days (The Sun), but the French U21 international has reassured Irons supporters he remains fully committed to the cause.
The 2018 summer signing from Toulouse has done an interview with Foot Mercato, in which he was asked about the reported interest in him.
He said: “I am not in negotiations, I don’t care to know which clubs are interested in me. So for me, nothing really changes.
“Most of the time, it is friends of mine sending me screenshots to say to me: ‘Issa, Look.’ I am not even the person who finds out first.
“Aside from that, that is the game of the transfer window, some things are true, some things are false. So honestly, I don’t pay too much attention to it.”
He was also asked if he had spoken to Jose Mourinho since he praised him while at United, to which Diop replied: “I neither discussed nor exchanged with him. Nothing at all.”
Diop started the season as a regular in the West Ham team but in recent weeks he has lost his place, with Fabian Balbuena and Angelo Ogbonna starting together.
His form has dipped, but Diop arguably remains the Hammers’ best defender, and so his comments are sure to go down well.
TBR’s view- Diop key to survival
Diop rediscovering his best form will be key in West Ham’s bid to beat the drop this season.
The 23-year-old is a fearsome opponent on his day and has the potential to inspire clean sheets for the Irons.
It’s great news for the club that he appears not to be going anywhere, and fans will be hoping to see him back in the team being consistent again.
