Ismaila Sarr terrorises Arsenal and shows why Everton must reignite January interest

In the January transfer window, Everton were among the clubs interested in Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr (as per WIW Sport) and last night, he showed why.

Sarr was part of the Rennes side that dented Arsenal’s Europa League hopes with a 3-1 win in France. And the youngster scored their third goal to add to his burgeoning reputation.

The 22-year-old capped a fine individual performance with a late goal, popping up in the right place at the right time to direct his header past Petr Cech.

If Everton scouts were at the game, they would have been impressed with the manner in which he took his goal, as well as his all-round performance.

Operating on the right wing, Sarr provided two key passes, had two shots on target, completed two dribbles and was fouled four times, as per Who Scored.

The 20-cap Senegal international is far from the finished product but he is a raw talent; one that Everton need to take a punt on.

With genuine pace, deceptive skill and an eye for goal, Sarr has the potential to build on his tally of 10 goals in all competitions this season if he develops.

Arsenal’s defence had problems dealing with Sarr and he could strengthen Everton’s attacking options if the Toffees return with a summer bid.
