A surprise inclusion on Tottenham’s bench against Tranmere Rovers on Friday, Timothy Eyoma made his first team debut with a cameo role as a substitute in the FA Cup third round win at Prenton Park.
The 18-year-old has played 16 games for the club’s under 23 side this campaign across the back line and could now emerge as Mauricio Pochettino’s defensive gamble if his team do not spring into action in the transfer window as an injury crisis continues.
Eyoma is most comfortable at right-back but can play in the middle of defence too, with his versatility providing real value as Pochettino has appreciated from other defenders like Ben Davies and Serge Aurier.

The England under 19 international has been on the fringes of the team for some time, making the bench for the Carabao Cup tie with West Ham and the Premier League fixture against Burnley.
Now, having broken his duck and registered his first minutes with Pochettino’s squad, he will be hoping to kick on and earn more game time as first team regulars remain sidelined with injuries.
As speculation continues to surround Toby Alderweireld’s future, Eyoma may be getting closer and closer to becoming the quick fix that Pochettino is looking for in defence.
