Is this the key factor behind Everton's impressive run of results?
Lying in seventh place in the Premier League with 20 points, Everton have experienced somewhat of a renaissance during Roberto Martinez’s third season at the helm. Indeed, the club have successfully built upon their solid finish to the previous domestic campaign, weighing in with a number of full throttle attacking displays.
Roberto Martinez’s men are reaping the rewards of their accuracy in the final third, having converted an impressive 15% of all attempts at goal. As can be seen in the table below, this statistic sees the Merseyside club lead the top flight rankings, ahead of leaders Leicester and hotly-tipped title favourites Manchester City.
This upturn in form has run synonymous with the improved performances of attacking trio Ross Barkley, Gerard Deulofeu and Romelu Lukaku, the latter of whom are starting to prove their weight in gold. With 15 goals and 14 assists between them, it is clear to see why avid Premier League viewers are kicking up such a fuss.
Whether the in-form trifecta can maintain their clinical form remains to be seen. However, Martinez and Everton fans alike will be expecting goals when the club make the trip to face Bournemouth on Saturday. Against the south coast outfit, who have conceded 27 times already this season – more than any other club – the Goodison faithful will be expecting a positive result.
