Is this Southampton forward one of Everton’s top five Romelu Lukaku replacements?

3. Saido Berahino

The third and final striking replacement option from the Premier League is want-away striker, Saido Berahino. Despite the prolonged transfer saga with Tottenham Hotspur and the straining of relationships with manager Tony Pulis, the Burundi-born English international remains an excellent, young talent. Despite a rather poor campaign last time out with only seven goals, he managed an impressive 20 in all competitions during the 2014-15 season.

Berahino’s ambition cannot be understated; despite the transfer saga, his desire to better himself and play for England’s best clubs is important. Berahino has the potential to be a top class player, and this can be seen through his movement and finishing when he plays.

It is clear that Berahino has no intention of signing a new contract at West Brom, but the Baggies still turned down bids of over £20 million for the player. With only one year left on the striker’s contract, Pulis and West Brom might be willing to cash in on the player before the end of the season. This could even lead to the purchase of the player for far below the previous bids that had exceeded 20 million.

Linked with many Premier League clubs, Everton’s new financial strength might persuade the forward to join the Toffees. The young player would have the freedom to develop on Merseyside, and could prove an outstanding future striker. However, Everton might possibly looking for bigger targets with their new found wealth to lead the Blues’ front-line.

4. Andriy Yarmolenko

Yarmolenko is the Ukrainian international that has been linked with the Toffees for a number of seasons. He is an exceptional; and correspondingly expensive, talent that would be available to lead the Everton line.

At an international level, the Ukranian has scored 20 goals in 50 games, and at a domestic level for Dynamo Kiev, 81 goals in 195 games. At the age of 26, this is an outstanding record and shows the talent he truly possesses.

However, Yarmolenko has been touted as a potential transfer target for a number of large clubs such as Liverpool and Arsenal. Everton can still not offer European football to the Ukrainian, after finishing the season in 11th, but a huge financial outlay this season could persuade the striker to make the move across Europe.

The purchase of such an exceptional talent would seriously signal the scale of Everton’s intent and ambitions this season.

5. Cristian Tello

Tello is a young Barcelona talent who looks unlikely to make the cut at the Catalan club. Despite breaking into the Barcelona first team in 2011/12, in the past few seasons, the striker has been sent out on loan to Porto and Fiorentina.

The Spanish forward is an exceptional prospect, but with others such as Neymar, Messi and Suarez well ahead of him in the first team squad, he is unlikely to make the cut at the Camp Nou.

As a result, a number of Premier League clubs are chasing the unsettled striker’s signature, as he could ultimately prove a fantastic striker for any squad. He has not exactly set the world alight on his loan moves away from Barcelona with only ten goals in 18 months in Portugal.

However, his raw ability could be nurtured by a manager such as Koeman into a better all-round forward. Tello might look to follow Barcelona compatriot Gérard Deulofeu onto Merseyside. Never getting his chance in Spain, Deulofeu’s skill has been developed at Everton and is now a much improved player.
