Is this really finally the year Leeds United gain promotion back to the Premier League?

Leeds United will spend Christmas Day in the Championship promotion spots for the second season running under Marcelo Bielsa.

Last time around, Whites fans started to dream that it could be their year under the Argentine, only to see Norwich and Sheffield United come on strong when the going got tough.

This time, Leeds have a degree of breathing space, so could this be the year they finally return to the promised land?

We’ve decided to make some mid-season predictions about where certain sides will finish come the end of the campaign, and asked whether Leeds will get up this time around.

The surrender of a 3-0 lead against Cardiff is the kind of result which gets the supporters – who are so desperate to be back in the big time – jittery about their side’s hopes.

But the breathing space back to third eases some of the pressure and pure desperation around the club when results like that – which seem to be typical Leeds – crop up.

The fact Leeds have gone again and got themselves up there once again means that it’s clear Bielsa and his squad are not one-season wonders, which also creates a sense of calm.

Leeds fans are probably sick to the back teeth of early predictions saying they’ll get up, but it really does look to be on the cards this time. West Brom may well win the Championship, but Leeds look too strong to lose their commanding position in a division where there are few outstanding, consistent rivals.
