Clear out the ‘Deadwood’

With that in mind, there are too many players that have been at Newcastle for too long and need to be sold to reinvest that money in fresh faces.  Even Sylvain Marveaux is still on a contract, even though he’s made 38 appearances in four years.  Players from the academy have started to come through, like Paul Dummett, Kevin Mbabu and Rolando Aarons, but a player like Adam Armstrong, who’s scored 19 goals this season, is out on loan when they desperately need a prolific striker.  There are at least a dozen first team players that fans would happily see be moved on, as if they can attract players at the same level of Shelvey and Townsend, the future will be bright for the Geordies.

This goes with signing players who know the English game or are in their peak.  It’s all well and good signing foreign diamonds like Alex Mitrovic, but you can’t then expect him to be your focal point and produce the goods from the off.  Cutting lose of average squad players and going to out to better the overall quality of the squad will see the side start to climb back up the ranks.
