Is there more behind Bailey Peacock-Farrell tour omission than meets the eye?

Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell has recently been linked with a transfer exit. The Elland Road stopper is said to be on the radar of Burnley.

The Premier League side are expecting to lose both England internationals Tom Heaton and Joe Hart this summer. With that in mind, they are in the hunt for a new goalkeeper to challenge Nick Pope for the number one spot at Turf Moor.

According to The Mirror, the man that Sean Dyche wants to fulfill that role is Leeds United’s Northern Ireland international.

So could Leeds’ squad for their upcoming Australia tour suggest where Peacock-Farrell’s future lies?

Leeds are taking a shortened 16-man squad to Australia to take on Manchester United and Western Sydney Wanderers this month.

The Yorkshire Evening Post has reported on the players being left behind. The reason why is, seemingly clear. Either they are new signings, who need to continue working on their fitness or internationals who rejoined Leeds late. That, it seems, is the case with both Macedonia international Gjanni Alioski and Poland international Mateusz Klich.

Peacock-Farrell appears to be for the same reason. However, his Northern Ireland team-mate Stuart Dallas has travelled with Leeds.

It is, of course, pure conjecture, but his absence on the tour certainly raises questions about his future.

With Kamil Miazek a capable back-up to Kiko Casilla, cashing in on Peacock-Farrell this summer might not actually be the worst idea for Leeds.

So, perhaps, absence in Australia is not just down to fitness plans.
