Everton have made a great start to the new season, with two wins from their first two matches.
The Toffees were victorious in their Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur, and that was followed up with a 3-0 win over Salford City in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.
There is a good feeling at Goodison Park at the moment, with the club’s three new signings James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure all making great impressions against Spurs.
The players are seemingly buying into Carlo Ancelotti’s ways, and optimism is high.
One man who is yet to make any kind of impact for Everton though, is one Alex Iwobi, who was mysteriously absent from the Toffees’ first-team squad again last night.
The Nigeria international’s omission came just hours after it was reported (The Telegraph) the club could listen to offers for the player.
TBR’s View – Everton right to listen to offers now they have James
Unfortunately, Iwobi’s move to Everton has been massively uninspiring.
A return of just one Premier League goal and no assists last term was very poor, and the Toffees should not be afraid to take a hit on the player, especially since they now have James Rodriguez.
The Colombian is obviously adored by Ancelotti and is no doubt going to play as many minutes as possible, theoretically making opportunities for Iwobi hard to come by.
His £34 million transfer (BBC Sport) on the watch of Marco Silva felt somwhat rushed, and one gets the feeling that – having missed the first two squads – he may already be on borrowed time at Goodison.
