Tammy Abraham netted the first senior hat-trick of his career in Aston Villa’s crazy 5-5 draw against Nottingham Forest last night, taking his tally to ten Championship goals for the season.
On the opposing side was Lewis Grabban, who has taken the second tier by storm two seasons running now; with Sunderland, then Villa in the second half of last season and now Forest.
There is no shortage of firepower in the Championship these days as clubs become ever more desperate to find the goals to help them clamber back into the top flight.
But is Abraham the best of them? He rampaged through the Championship in the 2016/17 campaign and he could be set for another season like that having been reinvigorated by Dean Smith’s new attacking style of play.

Neil Maupay has continued to bag even after Smith’s departure from Brentford and Abraham’s cross-city rival Lukas Jutkiewicz is on ten for the season, along with Teemu Pukki.
Kemar Roofe has been instrumental in Leeds’ turnaround, while Britt Assombalonga is near a guarantee of goals at Middlesbrough when he’s fully fit.
But in terms of his pace and work-rate off the ball, married with his composure in the box, it’s tough to find anybody better than Abraham.
One key factor in the promotion race will be which frontman can maintain his form and in Abraham, Villa have one who can mix it with the very best in the division.
