With Joe Gomez ruled out for several months with a broken leg and Nathaniel Clyne also sidelined by injury, Liverpool have been left with few options in defence. That could lead to a first team debut for Ki-Jana Hoever.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is the undisputed first choice at right-back, but Jurgen Klopp has been keen to rotate him whenever he can to avoid fatigue setting in for the youngster.
That may be why Klopp called up 16-year-old Hoever to join the first team for training in midweek, with the Dutchman having impressed for the under 23s since joining from Ajax in the summer.

Hoever has consistently been one of the team’s best performers with solid defensive displays whilst also contributing in attack and would appear to be next in line for the right-back slot at Anfield.
He is yet to be included in a first team squad for a competitive game and it seems unlikely that he will be included to feature up against Manchester United on Sunday.
A debut may be near though, as fixture congestion nears with FA Cup fixtures in January set to join an already hectic festive schedule for the Reds as injuries begin to give Klopp a real headache.
