In the summer transfer window, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard pushed hard to land Jake Cooper.
Cooper was one of Rangers’ top summer targets but Millwall resisted, rejecting bids for his services.
But with the current centre-back situation at Ibrox, Rangers should revisit their interest in Cooper and try to snatch him.
Connor Goldson missed the weekend’s clash with Motherwell so Nikola Katic and Joe Worrall lined up at centre-half.
But Katic was substituted in half-time on Sunday, with veteran Gareth McAuley coming on.
With Worrall only on loan and McAuley coming to the end of his career, Rangers need another centre-back.
Cooper is the ideal candidate: he is young, dominant and has experience at a decent level already.

The towering defender, who stands at taller than 6ft 3in, has been a regular in Millwall’s back line.
His physicality and aerial dominance makes the ex-Reading defender a strong central defensive candidate for the Gers.
The 23-year-old also has the potential to become even better. After a couple of seasons in the Championship, Cooper could take his career to the next level by joining Gerrard’s exciting Rangers project.
January is the perfect time for Gerrard to reignite his interest in the former England under-20 centre-back, who could become the long-term answer at the back for Rangers.
