Is Christian Benteke leaving Aston Villa?
Recent rumours have linked current Aston Villa Christian Benteke with a move away from Villa Park at the end of the season.
In his maiden Premier League campaign, the Belgian has recorded an impressive 14 goals in 27 appearances. In what has, so far, been a very poor season for the Claret and Blues, Benteke has certainly been a shining light.
The 22-year-old boasts great aerial ability, strength and a great work rate. He is rapidly turning into a formidable goal-scorer.
Benteke arrived in the Midlands for a deal worth around £7million. With the ability levels he has shown, Villa manager Paul Lambert thinks he is worth a lot more now and therefore won’t let the striker leave for a small fee.
It seems likely that he will be departing, even if Villa manage to survive in the Premier League. Arsenal are keen on securing his signature, with Chelsea and Manchester City also showing interest.
After failing to bring in their January transfer target of David Villa, Arsene Wenger will be very keen on bringing Benteke to the Emirates to add some class to an attacking unit that has struggled for consistency this season. It seems as if the bid for the international striker will be in the region of £15-20 million.
Benteke’s Aston Villa side are in action on Sunday, when they welcome West Ham to Villa Park.
