Aiden McGeady inspired Sunderland to victory over Barnsley yesterday at The Stadium of Light.

And it continues the Irishman’s rich vein of form as he struck the opener in this encounter.

McGeady won a penalty and then brushed himself down to convert it as Sunderland beat Barnsley 4-2 to remain second in the League One table.

The veteran winger is back to his best form after a slow start to life in League One.

And now that the 92-cap Republic of Ireland international is at his best again, it begs the question: is McGeady the best player in League One?

On his day, McGeady has the ability to beat any defender in this league and with goals to his game now, he is a constant threat.

The 32-year-old is using his experience to adapt his game as he gets older, making him a handful for defenders to cope with.

There are plenty of talented players in the third tier at the moment but McGeady can be unplayable if he is at his best.

Sunderland are lucky to have a player of McGeady’s ability on their books this season.
