West Ham United have some good news coming their way regarding their pursuit of one of Julen Lopetegui’s key targets.

The Irons have done a decent job in the transfer window so far.

Lopetegui has brought in Wes Foderingham on a free transfer, while Luis Guilherme has arrived from Palmeiras in Brazil. Max Kilman has also been brought in for big money from Wolves.

To add to that, Crysencio Summerville has undergone his West Ham medical ahead of a potential move. Manchester United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka has agreed personal terms with West Ham as well.

The focus is now on a new striker ahead of the start of the new Premier League season, and West Ham have been linked with a few names.

Here’s the latest on one of them.

What Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann has told Niclas Fullkrug about joining West Ham

Niclas Fullkrug is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.

The German scored 16 goals and provided 10 assists for the Bundesliga giants in the 2023/24 season, but he has been replaced by Serhou Guirasssy now.

Fullkrug isn’t expected to get as much game time as he did in the previous campaign, and that has led to a number of rumours about his future.

West Ham have been in talks to sign Fullkrug for a while now after their hopes of signing John Duran from Aston Villa have reduced due to the asking price.

Reports have claimed that West Ham are now just £4.2 million away from striking a deal for Fullkrug, who would be a good signing for them.

Now, Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann may have done the Irons a favour.

Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Fullkrug sought the advice of Nagelsmann and his coaching staff about West Ham.

In what is good news for Hammers fans, all of them recommended him to move to the London Stadium.

Plettenberg revealed: “Niclas Füllkrug has already sought advice from the DFB coaching team, including Julian Nagelsmann, Sandro Wagner and Benjamin Glück.

“They recommended him the move to West Ham, noting that playing regularly in the Premier League would increase his chances of being one of Germany’s strikers at the 2026 World Cup!

“West Ham, waiting for an answer from #BVB after €25m offered. Füllkrug can sign until 2027 + 1. Now it’s up to Dortmund to agree.”

What will Fullkrug bring to West Ham?

There are a few West Ham fans who are unsure of Fullkrug.

The Hammers are still pursuing a move for Duran, and that transfer cannot be ruled out yet. The Aston Villa man would be a great signing, but we don’t think Fullkrug is a bad shout either.

The German is big, strong, excellent in the air and can link play up. He is a real presence inside the box and his numbers show he is really productive too.

Ally McCoist was really impressed with Fulkrug during Euro 2024, and he boldly claimed that the striker would be a ‘tremendous’ signing for any club this summer.

He told talkSPORT: “The one I’d like to see is Fullkrug. I have no doubt he would score goals in the top flight in England. I like him.

“I don’t like using the term old-fashioned centre-forward. But he’s a proper centre-forward.

“He brings people into play, can go in behind, powerful, attacks things in the box. I think he’d be a tremendous signing for somebody.”
