Leeds United fans have had something of a love-hate relationship with Patrick Bamford ever since he rocked up at Elland Road. One of the key reasons why is the amount of chances he appears to miss for the Whites.
This again came to the fore at the weekend, as Leeds were made to pay for their wastefulness against Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road. Once again, the gap between Leeds and the automatic promotion-chasing pack is shrinking.
Many blame Bamford’s inability to score the chances provided for him. The fact Leeds lost their alternative in Eddie Nketiah is not helping matters.

But is there a reason why Bamford is struggling to put his chances away?
One interesting theory revolves around all the other brilliant work that Bamford is doing for Leeds United.
The forward moves around the pitch like a cross-country runner. His pressing and energy in attack is key to Marcelo Bielsa’s philosophy and is why the Argentine is so hot on him.
But it could also be the reason why he is not putting the ball in the back of the net more frequently.
The number of times the ball has fallen to Bamford moments after a gut-busting run or closing down effort is alerting. At that point, Bamford’s efforts often seem exhausted, lackadaisical or lacking that clinical edge.
It’s no wonder, the 26-year-old must be shattered.
