‘Interesting’ striker reportedly close to Rangers move starts following Ibrox stars on Instagram

Reported Glasgow Rangers target Fashion Sakala has begun following seven Ibrox players on Instagram.

According to the Daily Record, the Gers are confident of sealing a deal for the 24-year-old Zambia international, who will be out of contract in the summer.

The move for Sakala, whose contract at KV Oostende expires in June, is expected to be progressed this week with a pre-contract agreement likely after that, added the outlet.

And fuelling the speculation further is the fact that Sakala has begun following Borna Barisic, Allan McGregor, Joe Aribo, Kemar Roofe, Glen Kamara, James Tavernier and Bongani Zungu on Insta.

The Daily Record claims that Sakala had more lucrative offers from the Middle East and Europe but has made it clear that Rangers is his preferred choice.

The Chipolopolo ace has registered 13 goals and three assists for Oostende in the Jupiler League this term, and 28 goals and eight assists overall since joining from Spartak Moscow 2 in 2018.

Belgian legend Gert Verheyen, who spotted Sakala while playing in Russia and brought him to Oostende, says “he’s an interesting player but still needs progress”.

He added: “He’s a very good guy with a very good mentality. He wants to run and work hard for the team.”
