'Interested FC': Some City fans fume as journalist posts update on target supporters 'don't want'

Manchester City have reportedly reignited their interest in Sporting Lisbon defender and Portuguese international Nuno Mendes.

According to Fabrizio Romano, City are keen on the 19-year-old left-back. However, the Premier League champions don’t want to pay Sporting’s €50m (£43m) asking price for the fullback.

City are keen to sign a left-sided fullback this summer. Benjamin Mendy and Oleksandr Zinchenko shared the left-back role last season, and Pep Guardiola is seemingly keen on adding more quality in the position.

Mendes has been a target for some time for City. However, reports linking the defender to the Manchester giants had died down over Euro 2020. But the five-time Premier League champions are no back in for the youngster.

Are Crystal Palace Doomed Next Season?

Whilst Mendes is an exciting talent, some City supporters on social media are not convinced about the rumours surrounding the Portuguese youngster.

Moreover, fans are keen on City signing a replacement for Sergio Aguero this summer. Guardiola’s side are also eager on Jack Grealish, and fans are hoping Mendes isn’t the club’s first transfer of the window.

Here’s what some Manchester City fans had to say about the club’s reignited interest in Mendes on Twitter…

City are yet to sign a player this summer, with the club likely to draw out their pursuits of Kane and Grealish until the final days of the window.
