'Interest is 100 percent genuine': Journalist claims Tottenham are in talks over 'Son-type' attacker
Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Mohamed-Ali Cho is “100 percent genuine”, according to Dean Jones.
On Monday, Sky Sports reported that Spurs have been offered the chance to sign the Angers forward.
And Tottenham have apparently made an offer for Cho, added the outlet.
What On Earth Is Going On At Málaga?
Jones, speaking to The Football Terrace on Tuesday, provided an update on the Cho to Spurs speculation.
The transfer insider claims Tottenham “really like” the 18-year-old and are hoping to strike a deal.
However, Jones also claimed Spurs deem Cho “slightly overvalued” at present.
Angers reportedly value the France Under-21 international at up to €20million (£16.8million).
Jones went on to say Tottenham are trying to negotiate around that, before discussing Cho’s style of play.
“That interest is 100 percent genuine, they really like the player, and they are looking to do a deal there,” he said.
“From a Tottenham point of view, they feel he’s slightly overvalued from what I’m told.
“Angers are looking for around €20million and I think they’re trying to negotiate around that and haggle it, see if they can figure something out.
“He’s young, he’s not going to come and change your season but he could change games and I think that’s part of it.
“He can play as a two-man attack, he can play off of a main forward.
“So he would kind of be like a Son-type figure, I can imagine that’s how Tottenham can see him emerging.
“He’s young and has got loads of potential.”
Tottenham planning for the future – TBR View
Spurs landed a top talent in Pape Sarr last summer, and he’s currently continuing his development at Metz.
Cho is another superb prospect, not looking out of place at all in Ligue 1 this term.
Judging by Jones’ comments, it looks as though Tottenham may be willing to give Cho first-team minutes if they sign him.
Admittedly, Spurs could do with a new centre-forward to deputise and cover for Harry Kane.
But hearing that Cho is a “Son-type” player will no doubt excite Tottenham fans.
If Spurs can get the deal over the line, it’ll be exciting to see what he can bring to N17 this season and beyond.
