Report: Tottenham boost as club tell 'phenomenal' Conte target he must move on if conditions are met

Tottenham and Alessandro Bastoni have been talked about plenty of times in recent days, and there seems to be another fresh update from Italy today.

Bastoni is the number one defensive target for Antonio Conte this summer. However, it’s been widely reported how Bastoni is unsure on the move to England, due to his close affection for Inter Milan.

But according to Calciomercato, Inter have communicated with Bastoni that he might have to move on if Spurs meet the club’s asking price of just over £50m this summer. The report claims how Inter have explained that a ‘divorce’ between club and player may be necessary.

The Italian club need to balance the books a bit this summer and Bastoni is one of the big name players who the club could sell for big money. The other names, such as Lautaro Martinez and Nicolo Barella, are also under threat of being cashed in on.

Inter’s latest apparent stance will be of interest to Tottenham and Fabio Paratici. Indeed, it was only this week that reports claimed the Italian was preparing to walk away from talks, with Bastoni showing little in the way of wanting a move to the London outfit.

TBR’s View: Tottenham On Red Alert For Bastoni

This is where Tottenham need to be ready to strike. This is a small indication that Inter are open to a deal, and suggests there’s been dialogue about Bastoni being sold.

In a way, this is what Spurs want to see. If Inter start making these sorts of noises to Bastoni and his camp, it could show that they’re wanting him gone. That will push him further out the door, and that loyalty he has to the club could be tested.

Tottenham, then, need to be ready to go. If they have the money and the contract offer ready, then signing Bastoni is a no-brainer.
