Inter Milan star's agent says he is hoping Newcastle call
The agent of Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni has said he is hoping Newcastle get into contact – following the Toon’s £305million takeover.
Bastoni, 22, has become a regular at Inter over the last couple of seasons. Joining as an 18-year-old in 2017, he has played 82 times at senior level.
Now first choice, the nine-time Italy international has started eight of Inter’s nine league and cup matches during 2021-22. He is crucial to Inter.
Surprising then, that his agent has been speaking honestly about his future during an interview with Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb this week.
Tullio Tinti told TMW that he is hoping to hear from Newcastle – despite Bastoni signing a contract extension at Inter Milan at the end of May.
“He signed a contract a short time ago. I haven’t heard from Newcastle yet, I hope he will call me but he is very happy at the Nerazzurri for now.”
Bastoni agent talks Newcastle: Inter defender would be a top signing
A left-footed centre-back, Bastoni could be a player that Newcastle are looking to sign. A report from SPORT says they have identified that position.
However, the report states that Barcelona’s Clement Lenglet is the man they want to fill that void. There is no sign that Newcastle want Bastoni.
But if they are looking for a young, highly-rated, left-footed centre-back – then Bastoni will be right at the top of that shortlist.
Bastoni will cost a fortune, without a doubt. He has three years left on his current deal and cost Inter £28million to sign when he was a teenager.
