Inter Milan are leading the chase to sign Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud ahead of Newcastle United and Aston Villa, according to the Daily Telegraph.
They report that Inter boss Antonio Conte – who brought Giroud to Stamford Bridge – is keen on a reunion with the World Cup winning striker.
And it is claimed that Giroud would rather move to Italy – and join a club who are in the Europa League, having been eliminated from the Champions League at the group stage – than sign up for a Premier League relegation dogfight.
Giroud was France’s starting striker at the 2018 World Cup but needs to move in search of gametime ahead of this summer’s Euro 2020, or face losing his spot in Didier Deschamps’ side.

TBR’s View – Bruce and Smith very likely on back foot if Inter’s interest is serious
The chance to play under a manager who he has worked with before, at one of Europe’s most famous clubs and play European football?
In anybody’s book, that’s more appealing than playing in the lower reaches of the Premier League, at clubs who have both struggled to score goals this season.
If Conte’s interest is serious – and the report indicates it’s intense – then Villa and Newcastle would very much look to be on the back foot and would be wise to explore other targets sooner rather than later.
