Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has admitted he is looking forward to meeting with and locking horns with Leeds and their boss Marcelo Bielsa this weekend.

Leeds lost out comfortably in their last Premier League fixture against Leicester City. However, Marcelo Bielsa’s men have drawn plenty of praise this season for their free-flowing and high-pressing football.

And Hodgson, who concedes he hasn’t met Bielsa before, believes Leeds’ decision appoint Bielsa was an ‘inspired’ move. (Sky Sports)

“I think it was an inspired decision by Leeds to take him on as manager because he’s got them into the Premier League which so many people tried and failed to do.

“His teams play some oustandingly good games. I have very much respect for him and I’m impressed by the type of football Leeds are playing”

Leeds have won three of their opening seven games but have conceded 13 goals already. On the flipside, they’ve also netted the same amount, which may explain their record of 3 wins, 3 defeats, and a draw.

Palace, meanwhile, have an identical record. They have, however, scored just the eight goals but have shipped two less than Leeds.

There won’t be many games in the Premier League this weekend, if at all, that have two managers with as much experience under their belts than these two.

Bielsa and Hodgson are both greats of the game in their own right and will bow out of football with maximum respect when the time comes.

Hodgson’s words are nice to hear. Respectful comments and admiration from one boss to another is always good to read.
