Erik Lamela has posted a message on Instagram confirming his latest injury problem, which was an issue that manager Jose Mourinho raised in his pre-match press conference this week.
The 28-year-old attacker was absent from the Spurs squad on Thursday, as they beat Ludogorets 3-1 in the Europa League group stages.
“Lamela has a little problem for a few weeks and after the last match we decided it’s the moment to stop and have this week plus the 2 weeks of internationals for him to recover fully,” Mourinho said on Wednesday, as quoted by Football.London.
The Argentine has today posted on social media a picture of him wearing a protective boot and claims he’ll be missing for a “short time”.

TBR’s View:
Lamela is a talented player that Spurs fans can really support due to his incredible work-rate and his aggressive style, but his career at the North London club has been plagued by several injuries.
It’s difficult for the £80,000-a-week star (Spotrac) to build up any real momentum when an injury could just be around the corner and his current foot problem is the latest in a long line of injuries.
He’s scored two goals in his 10 appearances across all competitions so far this season, but the versatile attacker is involved in a healthy competition for a starting position and isn’t a nailed-on starter under Mourinho.
Fortunately for the manager there is plenty of cover to deal with any upcoming loss of right-winger Lamela and as of yet there isn’t a timescale on how long he’s sidelined for, but the upcoming international break will work in his favour.
