Arsenal defender Pablo Mari has posted a message on social media as he continues to work his way back from an injury.

The 27-year-old joined the Gunners on loan during the second half of last season, but he made just three appearances for them before eventually picking up a serious ankle injury against Manchester City in June.

Mikel Arteta’s side decided in the summer to make his move a permanent one despite his lack of minutes and he’s been on watching on from the sidelines so far this season.

The Spanish centre-back uploaded a post on his Instagram on Wednesday, which suggested he’s edging back towards fitness.

Football.London reports that Mari is back in “light training” following ankle ligament damage and he’s started doing light ball work, with the club confirming they hope he’s back in full training after the November international break.

TBR’s View:

Arsenal boss Arteta has so many options to pick at centre-back when all his senior options are available at the Emirates Stadium, so it’ll be interesting to see how Mari can force his way into the mix.

He’s still a fairly unknown talent in English football give his lack of game-time with the North London club, but they saw enough in him to make his switch permanent and he’s a left-footed centre-back that is very comfortable on the ball.

The Gunners need to be aiming for silverware this season alongside a top four campaign and that’s why their squad needs to be strong if they want to go deep into the Europa League competition.
