Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is set to undergo a medical at Champions League semi-finalists Villarreal.

Italian journalist Di Marzio claims that Lo Celso is due in Spain today (Friday) to finalise his permanent move to La Liga.

Lo Celso spent last season with Unai Emery’s men, helping them to reach the last four of the Champions League.

They lost to Liverpool but gave the Reds a scare in the second leg before eventually running out of steam.

Lo Celso set for Villarreal medical

It has been clear that Antonio Conte wants to get rid of Lo Celso all summer long and he did not take him to South Korea on Spurs’ pre-season tour.

It has just been a case of finding a suitor who will come forward with the right offer to get him and it seems that is now the case.

It has also been reported that Spurs were prepared for Lo Celso’s future to be decided on transfer deadline day so this is a welcome bonus.

Jose Mourinho described Lo Celso as ‘incredible‘ but he struggled to establish himself in English football and also could not stay fit.

The Argentine has quality, and he showed it on loan with Villarreal last season, where it seemed like he was loved by everyone connected to the club.
